A cenote is a natural freshwater sinkhole in limestone, sacred to the ancient Maya. They're safe to swim in — the water is fresh and clear, life vests are provided, and our guides know each cenote well.
Basic swimming helps, but life vests are always available and many cenotes have shallow areas, so non-swimmers can enjoy them too. Just let your guide know your comfort level.
Bring a swimsuit, towel, water shoes and biodegradable sunscreen (regular sunscreen is banned to protect the water). We provide life vests and transport on most tours.
